Apple sued over multi-touch infringement by Elan Microelectronics

Apple is being sued once again for patent infringement according to the New York Times. The law suit is being pursued by Taiwanese Elan Microelectronics.

Elan Microelectronics has apparently been in talks with Apple concerning licencing multi-touch on the Apple iPhone, Apple iPod Touch and Apple MacBook, but is seems those talks have made no headway.

Elan has been experiencing some difficulty due to the economic downturn and could well need the finance gained from a successful lawsuit, and hopes to prove that Apple doesn’t have a tight grip on multi-touch as they would think they have.
