The word is a developer has discovered there are icons included in a recent beta of the iPhone SDK and these icons are for an “iPhone 2.1” model according to an article on arstechnica.
The “iPhone 2.1” model label is believed to be the next generation or new iPhone that Apple is to unveil this summer. The original iPhone model number is “iPhone 1.1,” and the iPhone 3G is “iPhone 1.2.”
As we have heard before, betas of iPhone OS 3.0 also contain hints at several other iPhone and iPod models, although the latest iPhone SDK doesn’t seem to contain any icons for these other models.
