OS 4.6.0.282: Network selection for BlackBerry Bold

OS 4.6.0.282: Network selection for BlackBerry Bold

Under: BlackBerry, Phone Software
Date: June 22nd, 2009

As far as we know, previously any operating system a user installed on an AT&T BlackBerry Bold never “unlocked” the network selection mode option; however according to CrackBerry, the new BlackBerry Bold OS 4.6.0.282 from CLS makes said option available.

The importance of this ability may not be so apparent at first but when you reside in an not too hot 3G location this ability enables the user to switch to 2G so they can save battery life.

If you reside in a weak 3G location having the BlackBerry Bold constantly search for a 3G network will put stress on battery life when it would be easier to switch to a perfectly fine 2G signal and cause less stress on your BlackBerry Bold.
