According to an article over on MacRumors, Apple has now posted a rather easy online way for purchasers of the iPhone 3GS to keep tabs on and make sure their local Apple store has iPhone 3GS handsets available.

On Apple’s online database, the iPhone 3GS 16GB and 32GB, black and white models are shown along with a red square depicting iPhone 3GS unavailable, and a green circle which indicates stock available.

So it just might be pertinent to use this online facility and check on current stock levels at your local Apple store before heading out to purchase it.
