Four European countries are about to gain the Palm Pre smartphone as ft.com report that Telefonica has signed an exclusive deal to supply the Palm Pre.

Spain’s leading telecoms group pulled off the deal and fought off rival interest from the likes of Vodafone, and Palm Pre exclusivity will be with Telefonica in Spain, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The pebble shaped Palm Pre smartphone should go on sale with Telefonica sometime in October so they can maximise Palm Pre orders during the run up to Christmas, although Telefonica is expected to subsidise the Palm Pre no European pricing has been finalised yet.
