The most popular Windows Mobile operating system is currently Windows Mobile 6.1, and although it was presumed Microsoft would not offer support for Windows Mobile 6.1 they have now stated that they will offer support for Windows Mobile 6.1 phones in the marketplace by the end of the year reports windowsteamblog.

Also, Windows Mobile 6.5 mobile phones are also expected to hit the marketplace sometime in September says Microsoft during the Worldwide Partner Conference in New Orleans.

Worldwide submissions for the marketplace will open as of the 27th of July for 29 more countries while India has had the marketplace open since May.
