Fantastic news for all of us here as Tesco’s are going to be launching cheap smartphones by the end of 2009.

The retailer is said to be in discussions with manufacturers for eight smartphones. The smartphone range will be seen in stores in October 2009, starting with two cheap prepay models on the Tesco Mobile Network.

The Alcatel Tribe OT 800 will be exclusively available in pink and black from Tesco Mobile, together with the LG GW 300 which will be available across Tesco’s dedicated Mobile shops. Networks have yet to be confirmed and at the moment it isn’t clear if these will be prepay or contract. Source – mobiletoday.co.uk
