Sprint is soon to offer the HTC Hero for $179.99 while the Palm Pre sits priced at $199.99 which won’t do will it. Sp in order to make sure the Palm Pre continues to sell Sprint has dropped the Palm Pre price by $50 reports precentral.

The price drop news for the Palm Pre apparently comes via a tipster who works at a Sprint “indirect partner retail dealer” in other words an employee of a non-corporate Sprint store or Best Buy Mobile.

The price drop on the Palm Pre smartphone takes place as of tomorrow the 8th of September and will run until the 31st of October 09 whereby “indirect partners” will push out the Palm Pre for $149.99 after a mail in rebate and place it below the HTC Hero.
