Apple tries to get back in bed with China Mobile

Only two weeks after striking a deal with China Unicom, Apple is trying to extend iPhone presence in China by again entering into negotiations with China Mobile reports Cnet.

Wang Jainzhou, chairman of China Mobile has confirmed China Mobile has again entered talks with Apple with a view to offering the iPhone. The aforementioned deal with China Unicom unlike most deals for the iPhone isn’t exclusive and thus Apple can approach other carriers.

Obviously Apple wants to get into bed with China Mobile as it is China’s number one carrier with 141 million customers which is triple that of China Unicom, although Apple would need to make some changes to the iPhone in order for it to operate on China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA platform.
