Google Maps Navigation now available for Android 1.6 Donut

If you think that Google Maps Navigation is the sole property of the Motorola Droid and its Android 2.0 operating system, you’d now be mistaken because Google has now backported Google Maps Navigation to Android 1.6 OS.

Yes Android folk, Google has now made Google Maps Navigation available for Android 1.6 Dount packing mobile phones such as the T-Mobile G1 and the T-Mobile myTouch 3G.

Furthermore, the release to Android 1.6 also includes the new layers feature which overlays geographical info on your maps enabling the user to view My Maps, Wikipedia place articles, transit lines and more.

If you are currently running Android 1.6 you can now download the updated version of Google Maps Navigation from the Android Market which is in beta but currently available in the US, and some features will not be available in Android 1.6 such as the “navigate to” voice command.
