As far as I am aware, Apple has not thus far sued anyone for jailbreaking their iPhone handset, nor have the sued the iPhone Dev Team for delivering iPhone Jailbreak solutions, but apparently the US Copyright office along with the Librarian of Congress are due to pass a ruling on whether jailbreaking your iPhone should be exempt from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

According to an article over on Gizmodo, 18 months ago the Electronic Frontier Foundation asked the regulators to put jailbreaking onto a list of “explicit exemptions to the DMCA’s anti-circumvention provisions.”

I’m sure you all know what jailbreaking a smartphone is so I won’t go into detail on that matter, but apparently 6 years ago the regulators did approve 6 exemptions, one of which was the having the ability to unlock a mobile phone.
