iPhone Game Maker Tapulous Purchased by Disney
Looks like Disney is stepping into the mobile gaming arena in a big way and has set their eyes on the iPhone, iPod Tocuh and iPad, as the Walt Disney Company has now stated they have purchased Tapulous.
According to the article on the NYTimes, the chief of Tapulous, who are based in Palo Alto, California, Bart Decrem, says Tapulous “is going to be at the center of Disney’s mobile strategy.”
Tapulous has been very successful with the iPhone in the past, and after thinking how to position themselves to succeed, along with several discussions with Disney, Decrem says “we could see that we have a shared vision of the future and the iPhone as a mobile platform.”
Tapulous will for the time being continue to concentrate on “music rhythm games” but will be looking at opportunities to “leverage the assets Disney has,” says the president of Disney Interactive Media Group, Steve Wadsworth.
