Android Gains BBC iPlayer App Released for Download

Just so the iOS faithful don’t get everything to themselves with the BBC iPlayer coming to the Apple iPad as reported (here), the Android faithful can look forward to gaining the BBC iPlayer app as well so they can play catch up whilst on the move.

According to an article over on Android Central and by way of the BBC Blog, the official BBC iPlayer app for Android should hit the Android market sometime this week.

However on checking just now, the BBC iPlayer for Android is now available to download to your chosen Android smartphone running Android 2.2 or above as a free app from the Android Market, which I have just grabbed for my Samsung Galaxy S.

With the BBC iPlayer app on your Android device users will be able to watch live TV, catch up with missed programs from the last 7 days, listen to BBC radio, scroll and locate most popular programs add programs to favourites when waiting for new episodes and browse upcoming program schedules.
