Sony Xperia S aka Nozomi demonstrated on video

On the first day of CES 2012 in Las Vegas, Sony Ericsson (or should than now be just Sony?) introduced a new Xperia smartphone, the Sony Xperia S and we have a few details on the new Android smartphone along with a demo video for your viewing consideration below.

The Sony Xperia S demonstration video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Ubergizmo who managed to get a little playtime with the new Sony handset whilst at the event.

Sowe’ll kick off by letting you know that the Sony Xperia S is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset but will be updated at some point to Android Ice Cream Sandwich so no worries about that.

The Sony Xperia S is also know by a couple of other monikers, the Sony Ericsson Nozomi or the Sony Ericsson Xperia HD but it looks like Sony has opted for the Xperia S handle for this particular smartphone.

The device sports a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 “Reality Display” along with a 12 megapixel camera with Exmore R sensor, 720p video, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, Mobile Bravia Engine, HDLNA and HDMI capability and a 1900mAh battery.

The Sony Xperia S also features a clear bar just below the touch screen, which apparently is where the antenna I housed along with the home, back and menu Android buttons, so a rather unique feature.

As for availability of the Sony Xperia S the device is said to hit shelves sometime in Q1 but as yet no concrete word on what the handset will command price wise.

That’s it all you need do now is head on down and mash that play button to check out the demo video, and feel free to let us know if the Sony Xperia S is a device you would like to own…enjoy.
