A tragic story gripping the U.S. at the moment concerns the case of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin who was shot and killed on February 26 by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer aged 28. Today we have news on two Android apps that have arisen from this incident and want to know if you feel apps like these should be banned, considering the circumstances surrounding them.

The death that occurred in Florida has provoked a huge response and a month on, far from fading away the case is being debated more than ever. Zimmerman has not been arrested as he claimed self-defense for the shooting and this has caused huge protests with crowds demanding his arrest. It has become an even more sensitive subject as Trayvon Martin was an unarmed young black man while Zimmerman has a Hispanic mother and white father so the incident has developed into a racial flashpoint as reported here.

While some are now stepping up to defend Zimmerman, more controversy has now occurred as it appears that leaks from the Sanford Police Department have pointed to Martin previously being suspended for marijuana and provided further information about the fight between Zimmerman and Martin whereby Martin is portrayed as the aggressor, rather than the other way around. Claims from the Martin family that attempts are being made to demonize him have seen further rallies taking place in defense of Trayvon Martin and demanding justice. Others point to the fact that Zimmerman already has a police record while Martin did not.

As this incident has led to the sad death of a young man it seemed rather odd to us that there are already apps available from Google Play aka the Android Market and we want to know what you think of this. The first one is called Remember Trayvon and available here. This is a free Android personalization app designed to celebrate Trayvon’s life and has a minimalistic theme with over 30 simplistic app logos and custom wallpaper.

Another app is called Slice Curious George, available here, also on Android. This is another free app and bizarrely seems to turn the tragedy into an arcade action game whereby users can ‘slice and dice’ George Zimmerman.
