In-flight mobile phone service launched Air France

Well it looks as if Air France is going to beat Ryanair to be the first airline to have Airbus’s OnAir in-flight calling system. Air France is implementing Mobile On-Air 2.5G mobile service on some select international flights.European passengers on the Airbus A318s will be able to use their mobile phones for text purposes, email, and MMS when the new ‘no mobiles’ light is turned off. Voice calling support is expected to be available during the 2nd half of the year long trial period. You use your mobile just as you would white on ground, the signal will be bounced off satellites via the onboard picocell, and the bill will be directed to your usual carrier and rates should be alone the lines of regular international calls.
