Silverlight 2 coming and still on its way to mobile

Microsoft has said their Silverlight 2.0 will be available for download from the Microsoft Silverlight website as of October the 14th. Furthermore anyone still using a beta version of either Silverlight 2 or 1 will be automatically upgraded in the coming months.

Silverlight is Microsoft’s alternative to Adobe Flash and has had its ups and downs in the past but is still on the road to making it to the mobile phone arena, and the proof that Silverlight is still heading to mobile comes in the form of a blog post from Mary-Jo Foley at ZDNet.

Ms Foley says “In this demo-filled session learn how to extend your existing Silverlight 2 applications to work on Windows Mobile and how to build rich mobile Silverlight apps that access device peripherals such as camera; GPS or WiFi or the radio stack for location; as well as mobile web services.”
