The train takes the strain but not the mobile pain

Travel company C2C is coating the windows of their train coaches with a special high technology film which blocks signals from mobile phones, thus virtually banning the use of mobile handsets while travelling on their trains.

It’s not an all out ban though as apparently it will be only one carriage designated as “quiet” per train. The special film is being used to put a halt on shrill ringtones and loud conversations that may annoy some travellers.

Most train companies have designated “quiet” zones on their trains but it is thought that C2C is the first to make use of the signal blocking technology, and a poll of passengers came back that many were concerned that the rules were not being enforced strongly enough.

Personally I can see the point, but then it’s not just mobile phones that can be annoying on a train, for instance does this tech also block loud and obnoxious crazed music from blaring out of an MP3 player, or the loud mouthed yob from spouting off?
