Apple iPhone sales out beat Windows Mobile handset sales

Smartphones such as the Apple iPhone and BlackBerry Storm are now racing ahead of Windows Mobile sales for the first time. According to Gartner’s analysis of the world smartphone industry the smartphone sector managed to grow 11.5 percent in the third quarter of 08.

Obviously given the present economy any number which isn’t in the negative has got to be considered a plus. Nokia still hangs on to its number one slot though with 42.4 percent market share while Research In Motion’s BlackBerry smartphone sales jumped an incredible 81.7 percent in the third quarter of 08.

Furthermore, apparently a rumour is saying Apple will be hacking up their Apple iPhone production in the fourth quarter by 40 percent as they have some 2 million units of inventory built up in the supply chain.

The biggest news is that the Apple iPhone has in this quarter exceeded sale of Microsoft Windows Mobile handsets in North America and globally.
