The word on the net waves is Acer has confirmed they will be releasing their self branded smartphone in the first quarter of 09, and will be developed between Acer’s R&D team and E-Ten which Acer acquired back in September.

As for a name, specs, pricing of location availability we will have to wait until Acer is forthcoming with such information, but Acer has confirmed the mobile phone will be a Windows Mobile device.

It has also been revealed that E-Ten is to focus on real time stock tracking handsets while Acer will take the smartphone lead in development. Acer chairman JT Wang forecasts a significant growth for Acer over the next few years.
