Nokia increase licensing for Qt with LGPL

Nokia has announced their Qt cross platform User Interface and app framework for desktop and embedded platforms will become available under the Lesser General Public License version 2.1 from the release of Qt 4.5 which is scheduled for March.

This move to Lesser General Public License is to provide commercial and open source developer’s whit more permissive licensing than General Public License and thus increase flexibility for developers.

Furthermore, Qt source code repositories will become publicly available and encourage contributions from embedded and desktop developer communities allowing developers to actively evolve the Qt framework.
