Spotify, the cloud based music streaming service could well be coming to the Apple iPhone according to a report by TechCrunch.

Apparently, Spotify has even hired a director of “portable solutions and Symbian 60 developer” which seems to indicate Spotify’s intention to go mobile.

If then TechCruch’s report is to believed, a possible Apple iPhone version of Spotify will probably be initially available to a select few premium users only delivering access to playlists and OTA streaming of the catalogue over 3G networks.

As Spotify has been garnering some considerable coverage lately one then has to consider if Spotify does go iPhone, surely this would be of some threat to Apple’s own iTunes store?
