Google’s Vision: Samsung launching Android-based phones

Word has it that Samsung has confirmed they will launch a minimum of 3 new mobile phones in 2009 which will have the Google Android operating system, two of which will he heading for US carriers.

According to an article on arstechnica, the major mobile carriers in the US have been somewhat cautious over Google Android and have been quite slow to accept the new platform, and while Sprint and T-Mobile have committed to Android, AT&T along with Verizon have declined to commit thus far.

Having said that, with Google’s compromising Verizon has intimated that Google Android could well be back on Verizon’s menu as they are no longer in a position to shun one OS in favour of another. These concessions by Google are leading to Android being accepted and helping the platform gain ground.
