Ericsson profit falls 35% but outlook is upbeat

First quarter net profit fell 35 percent due to restructuring costs and continued losses at Sony Ericsson, but the economical recession has thus far had a minimal affect on telecom operators’ says Telefon ABL.M Ericsson, states an article on WSJ.

Apparently, Ericsson holds on to their optimistic views of the infrastructure market for this year and states that most mobile operators have thus far weathered the economic downturn with a healthy financial position.

Chief Executive Carl-Henric Svanberg, says it is touch to predict how operators will react to a continued economic downturn, and that investment in wireless networks continues with roll outs of new technologies and networks accelerating in the US market, China market and India market.
