Recession doesn’t stop Apple iPhone and Palm Pre sales

It would appear that the recession doesn’t impact on certain mobile handset, a fact which has been proven by the iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre as the Washington Post reports that Apple has announced sales of 1 million iPhone handsets over the weekend.

However, Apple did not break down the 1 million figure to show just how many of that million was iPhone 3GS handsets or the now cheaper $99 iPhone 3G.

In comparison, analysts say that approximately 100,000 Palm Pre handsets were sold in the first weekend of being available. So it would seem that despite a recession, the iPhone is still the number one mobile handset to own.
