CellScope Mobile Phone Doctors Microscope

Advancements in the mobile arena are always going forward and today we learn via an article in The Guardian that medical researchers have unveiled a new gadget that attaches to a mobile phone and enables physicians to carry a portable microscope.

The new device is called the CellScope microscope attachment and it clips onto an ordinary mobile phone and utilises the built in camera to process images which the doctor can then screen for such diseases as TB and sickle-cell.

The CellScope can be used to examine blood samples in the field and help spot some of the world’s most deadly diseases, making the mobile phone an essential piece of medial equipment for the doctor on the move.
