Can Nokia really take aim at BlackBerry?

Nokia and Microsoft are now best buddies in an alliance to fend off competitors that have become somewhat troublesome. This partnership will deliver Microsoft Office along with other Microsoft software to Nokia mobile phones reports the WSJ.

This move by Nokia and Microsoft is targeted right at the professional arena which BlackBerry smartphone maker research In Motion targets so successfully.

The advantage for Microsoft is it should increase the appeal of MS Office to a business audience which is being targets by a few rivals such as Google and Apple. Apparently at a conference call, Nokia’s exec VP for devices, Kai Oistama stated…”It’s about creating a formidable challenger to RIM than anybody else.”

So it looks like Nokia and Microsoft is gearing up to take a slice of the BlackBerry market, and we’ll be watching to see just how they fair.
