Nokia 5230 clears FCC without US 3G?

The Nokia 5230 touch screen smartphone has now gained approval from the FCC according to engadget mobile, and is a low end Nokia smartphone that doesn’t actually work on the AT&T 3G network.

It seems quite strange hat Nokia bothers to gain FCC approval on mobile phones they have no intension of offering over the pond in the US, seems kind of pointless really.

Still, the Nokia 5230 will be available over in Europe from Nokia flagship stores if you happen to really want one, as the handset only rocks 900/2100 MHz.
