Developer contests being held by Vodafone and Nokia

Vodafone is looking for the best available mobile widgets and has thus started a competition offering developers the opportunity to win some cool €100,000 in prize cash reports the inquirer.

Vodafone is looking to foster software for their 360 mobile phones, and thus the AppStar contest will run in 2 phases; phase one will see developers across the globe submit mobile applications or widgets for evaluation by a judging panel, where 3 winning entries in each market will be chosen based on innovation, quality of user experience and value to customer.

1st place in phase one will see the winners gain €25000 for 1st place, €15,000 for 2nd and €10,000 for 3rd while phase 2 which will be held in 2010 will see the overall winner receive another €75,000.

Furthermore, Nokia is calling for UK developers to take part in their Calling All Innovators contest which has 5 divisions where coders are expected to come up with content and applications that fall into categories such as business, social networking, communications and productivity and the overall winner across all 5 categories will have their app placed in the Nokia Ovi Store ad receive £20,000.
