So what does iPhone OS 3.1.2 update give us? New improvements

Yesterday Apple released the all new update to the iPhone OS which is now at version 3.1.2, ok this is good news but what does iPhone OS 3.1.2 update give us?

Just so you all know this is only a minor update so nothing really special to write home about, it does however fix a few issues with the software. This new update does apply to the Apple iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS and does have a few improvements.

The improvements include: Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart, Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep and Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming.

The update is a whopping 200MB and you can download direct from iTunes, once you have downloaded would you all be so kind to get back in touch with us in the comments area provided below of how you got on. Thanks

been having major problems with my i-phone regarding loss of network service and only being able to make a call for a maximum of 20seconds!!
Was told by apple to wait for new update (3.1.2) as this would fix problems.
So the day comes, the software comes and im all happy that i get my Iphone back, but nothing!
The massive 189mb update did nothing to help my problem! back to the apple store i trek then …..

This update is useless. I had a perfectly working iPhone and now I don’t get 3g. Maps application has no idea where I am. My mail which was useless at push will now not even fetch. The barcode app I downloaded 2 days ago now freezes constantly. I have 12% battery life left when the phone was charged 8 hours ago. This is a worse life than the previous one.

    Apple. What’s is going on?

  3. Just got the 3.1.2 software. I had no problem with the previous update other than battery life. Im just seeing about my new software glitches if I can find any. first… maps. It puts me around a half mile away from where I really am. Not too bad compared to other reports… youtube… loading… fine

I dont see any issues so far…

calls… just got one over 20 seconds darren murphy… music… fine… 2d game…still smoother than my 1st gen touch on 3.0, im on an iphone 3gs on 3.1.2

    3d game… online too… fine. emails attempted now… fine. stocks…works

now the mic… fine… camera… fine… video camera… fine. no probs other than location services. at some point I will update with battery life issues if any. just go ahead and get it

How can I solve, or I don’t know if everyone else has this problem, some web pages that I opened of the iphone 3G does nt apper correcly, meanig some “pictures or links” only appers a box and a question mark! how do you fix this? do I need to install a flash player? of some kind?.

Before 3.1.2 had no mayor problems.

Now my phone keeps loosing signal, incoming calls don’t arrive! After a few minutes I receive a SMS telling me that I have a lost call.

My touchsrceen froze in phone mode, making me impossible to make calls, while all other apps worked fine.

    3.1.2 sucks big time!!

Apparently Apple is developing the Microsoft sindrome, growing faster than they can and fixing the load on the road.

  7. Frankie says:

I downloaded the 3.1.2 the first day it was available, as always, to my iPhone 3GS, and I haven’t noticed any difference in performance. I wasn’t having any issues anyway, but I always update to the latest software. My biggest complaint these days is the size of AT&T’s 3G network. I’m not far outside the city of Charlotte, and I can’t get 3G at my home. Once you get about 15-20 miles north of the city (not sure about reception in other directions), you’re back to the “Edge” network. Don’t get me wrong, I get AT&T phone service at home and pretty much everywhere I go, but the 3G internet service is limited. Verizon is advertising on TV that their 3G network is 5x larger than that of AT&T, and I believe it. But back to the point, no issues with the 3.1.2 software, and btw, my MMS service works great. I will never understand why we couldn’t have that service from day 1 on the iPhone, but oh well.

  8. Looks liks Apple is trying to defeat the movement against jail braking Iphones by coming out with as many updates as possible rendering them relatively useless. I just updated. Nothing changed

  9. Craig says:

Had no problem at all before update 3.1.2 but now my Mail doesnt work properly. The phone has NEVER been slower… takes ages to load just google.co.uk in safari.

Crashes a few times when phoning. Freezes for no reason.

    Cr4p… utter cr4p

  10. James says:

As of right now I have no complaints, I only for one simple feature to be added to our phones. Please change the way we have to delete our recent calls list. We should have an option to delete 1 call at a time or the same way we can delete text messages. Thanks!

Someone just let me know when it’s SAFE to upgrade. I’m on a 3GS / 3.0.1 and experience only the usual dropped calls I’ve always had with ATT. I use my phone for WORK and can’t afford to loose connectivity, reception, battery life, etc.

Hey Apple, this isn’t a TOY for some of us, it’s REAL LIFE. I’ve never understood the complete lack of honest public announcements that you are aware of problems X, Y and Z and ETA for fixes. What also blows my mind is the attitude. If you can’t adequately test software before release, you’d better allow for a ROLL BACK!!!

I was in the Apple store the day after the 3.1 push for another reason. Guy next to me was really upset that he had upgraded to 3.1, as recommended, but now couldn’t MAKE OR RECEIVE CALLS AT HIS HOUSE. Apple store basically said “Sorry, can’t help you.” No roll back, no phone swap, but really slick stores. Nice touch.

    1. Spencer says:

look DW idk if you didn't get the memo but if you intended for a business phone getting the iphone is where you went wrong, that is why att also has the blackberry, you should have known that a relatively new phone style, they would begin to play with the software slowly trying to perfect it.

Just got my i-phone a week ago. The Email is already not supporting itself. Touch on mail and before you can read or open an emial, it drops out back to the main screen, I may as well go back to my blackberry

  13. Tom says:

My iPhone worked until update 3.1 .2

    No complaints before…. Now….

    1. I cant open any app!
    2. I cant open emails
    3. It says i need to subscribe to a cellar packet thing (when im subscribed to 02)

Will these problems be resolved if i reset? What shall i do? Dont want to call apple and be on phone for ages and waste money, i cant email them??? and my nearest apple store is miles away!

  14. Pete Tobin says:

The 3.1.2 update has killed my 3G reception completely. The only way I can get the phone to work is to switch the 3G off otherwise the phone continually looses signal completely and even when I have full 3G bars, none of the Apps can access the internet.

  15. zombiescreen says:

After 3.1.2 my touchscreen loses sensitivity irregularly. Sometimes it works normally, other times, I need to press hard – sometimes just too hard… need to turn the phone off then back on.
In menu pages or in call – it happens any time.
Just want to know how to go back one version…
Although since 3.1 my carrier lost message comes up 2-3 times a day – even when the phone is sitting in one place.

  16. Ahmed says:

guys i have a 3g and it was rediciulosly slow until i found out the cause of this stupid problem. it’s the notifications option in the settings page. my phone was dying when it was on, but since i don’t need it i turned it off (it’s on by default) and i feel like i have a new iphone 😛

  17. Andreas says:

Before i update to 3.1.2 my iphone worked perfecty! from the moment i updated it i have major problems!!!! it keep tilt, the videos (youtupe) doesnt work and the signal is lost! can i restore the previous version or how can i fix it?

  18. annoymous says:

    A load of Crap!

It does nothing. I have an iPhone and an Ipod touch, it messed them both up. They are now slow, unfunctioning and generally useless! All down to a stupid piece of software apple recommended. I took it back to apple, they said even though they recommended it it was none of their business and they will charge £100 yes £100 to repair them both! Outragious!

  19. Tibika says:

    Hey, guys.
100 bucks for “repairing”? what are they going to do? just restore to an earlier version, I suppose… You can do that yourselves.
Search the web, download the firmware and restore to the one you like. Easy as that.
    Peace!

  20. dare says:
