iPhone 3GS pushes smartphone sales up in Australia

The Australian smartphone market seems to be doing quite well as it appears the iPhone has helped push sales up some 29% year on year according to IDC quarterly mobile phone tracker results reports arnnet.

A 151% increase in sales between Q1 and Q2 09 came about largely due to Apple releasing the iPhone 3GS stated IDC analyst Mark Novosel.

Furthermore, due to Apple’s aggressive marketing of the iPhone 3GS, Research In Motion’s business orientated BlackBerry smartphones have taken a hit and gone backwards which is the first time there’s been a quarterly decline in about 2 years.
