BlackBerry 9900 Slider Coming 2010 Confirms Analyst

Apparently although we have seen some great Blackberry smartphones come out of Research In Motion such as the BlackBerry Tour and BlackBerry Bold 9700, the “bets of both worlds” is yet to come from the Canadian manufacturer in the form of a BlackBerry touch screen slider handset.

According to an article over on electronista, the rumoured Research In Motion BlackBerry 9900 smartphone along with the Webkit based browser gained some evidence via a research note from Shaw Wu an analyst for Kaufman Brothers.

Wu apparently pointed to parts suppliers and industry contacts who say the touch screen slier is in development and is a type of cross between a non-touch BlackBerry QWERTY and the BlackBerry Storm 2, and that the handset is in the prototype stage with an expected ship date of sometime in 2010.

Wu apparently said that the handset is theoretically a “best of both worlds” handset as it would bring Research In Motion’s rep for hardware keyboards into the modern touch display era. As for the Webkit, it would apparently replace RIM’s propriety web code with a modern foundation.
