Skype software coming to some of Verizon’s phones

It has been recently reported that Verizon are holding a press conference with Skype on Tuesday at the Mobile World Congress. Although Verizon haven’t commented publicly yet on the subject.

But some unnamed sources have claimed that the company are planning to include Skype’s Internet calling software directly into some of their phones. It would be great if this happens as it would mean that customers could make Skype calls over Verizon’s 3G data network.

AT&T and Verizon have both recently lowered their unlimited voice plans to $70 per month from $100 per month, and have also amended their data service plans in order to encourage customers to sign up for the data services.

Skype is becoming more and more popular throughout the world as it is a cheap way to make international calls using a flat rate broadband service from home. At present it is unclear as to whether or not the application would be able to offer the same amount of value to wireless customers. For more information visit reviews.cnet.com
