Facebook Announce Facebook Zero for Mobile at MWC 2010

Social networking site Facebook were at Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona and they announced a new website for mobile which will be called Facebook Zero, and will be a text only version of the social networking site for easier viewing on mobile phones reports an article on v3.

Apparently Facebook Zero for Mobile will also ‘ease the strain on operators’ networks,’ and is likely to launch in the next few months although operators will be required to sign up so they can offer Facebook Zero.

Facebook already provides a Lite version of their social networking website however Facebook Zero is being pitched towards developing countries where their infrastructure is less capable.

The Facebook Zero website is currently unavailable and if you visit you will be shown a message which states ‘Sorry, your carrier does not support zero.facebook.com.’
