Apple Largest Mobile Device Company in World Says COO

During a question and answer session at Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference on Tuesday in Sans Francisco, Apple COO, Tim Cook was asked if Apple believes itself to be a mobile device company and Cook embraced the mobile label.

According to an article over on CRN, Cook responded that as Apple compared itself to other companies in the world such as Samsung, Sony and Nokia, they found they were the largest mobile company in the world measured by revenue, yes you should look on Apple as a mobile device company.

Cook confirmed that Apple’s latest quarter pulled in almost $15.7 billion in revenue and that growth of the mobile business was mainly evident.

To date more than 40 million iPhone handsets and 35 million iPod Touch units have been sold, fuelling the booming popularity of the App Store. There was also a rise in enterprise iPhone sales with 70% of Fortune 100 companies in the USA in the process of testing or deploying the iPhone, Cook added.
