HTC EVO 4G overclocked to 1.2GHz video

Not fast enough for you the HTC EVO 4G? Well the folks over at XDA-Developers forum have actually managed to overclock a rooted EVO 4G to an impressive 1.2GHz.

The report and video come from ozcarguide and this just goes to show us that the current 1GHz Snapdragon processor which is present in the HTC EVO 4G has quite obviously been tuned down a bit perhaps in order to preserve the battery life on the device.

The results show a 25% improvement and over 8.8MFLOPS whereas the original HTC EVO 4G does 6 MFLOPS, so why wouldn’t you want to root your HTC EVO. Recent announcements are that 1.2GHz Snapdragon processors are already being shipped out to phone manufacturers, you can quite safely say that they could potentially be able to be overclocked to well above 1.5GHz.

That though is far away from the 2GHz Android handsets which Motorola’s Sanjay Jha has mentioned that he wants to be made available by the fourth quarter of this year. We would hope that the battery life may be improved by Motorola as the 3,000mAh in the HTC Evo doesn’t impress. Have a look at the video anyhow and feel free to share your comments.
