Apple iPhone 3G Gains iOS 4.1 Game Center: Video

As iPhone 3G owners are aware, when Apple pushed out iOS 4.1 to the iPhone 3G it lacked the new Game Center support; however it appears that if iPhone 3G owners want Game Center on their device it is possible.

According to an article over on Intomobile by Kelly Hodgkins, and by way of Redmond Pie, it is possible to port Game Center over to a Redsn0w 0.9.6 jailbroken iPhone 3G running iOS 4.1.

Apparently Game Center loads without error and delivers some basic features such as viewing contacts and replying to friend requests, but the performance is a tad sluggish given the underlying iPhone 3G hardware, but as proof that it can be done we have a video demo for your viewing pleasure below.

To achieve Game Center on the 3G the process requires mods to .plist files located in the original GameCenter.ipa file, then SSH’ing the mod file onto your jailbroken iOS 4.1 iPhone 3G, but does mean you break Apple DRM. Check out the video below to see Game Center running on the iPhone 3G…enjoy.
