BlackBerry Torch 9800 Virgin Mobile Release Undercuts Rest Off Contract

The latest smartphone out of the Reseach In Motion camp, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 is due release on its home soil quite soon; however there seems to be some confusion over the release date on the carriers along with a price differential.

According to an article over on Mobile Syrup by Ian Hardy, and by way of Future Shop, the BlackBerry Torch was due release as of the 24th of September but was pushed back to the 1st of October, Bell then launced online on the 24th, whilst other carriers confirmed that their launch date will be the 30th September.

Now we are seeing a pricing differentiation as well as carriers sent out info that the BlackBerry Torch 9800 would be $199.99 on a three year term and $599.99 off contract. However, Bell launched at $179.99 with a three year term.

However it now appears that Virgin Mobile is offering the BlackBerry Torch for $549.99 which undercuts Rogers, Bell and Telus by $50 as they all ask for $599.99 off contract.
