New changes for Twitter iOS & Android app updates

We know that sometimes changes to popular social networking sites and apps can go down like a lead balloon. However, today we have news on the latest Twitter apps updates for iOS and Android and there are some great new features so read on for more.

Both official Twitter app updates are now available and we’ll give you links to those later. Additions to the Discover, Search and Notification functions will make it easier to keep up with what your friends are up to and mention them and from the sounds of it these changes should be received well. First off a new Activity Stream under the Discover tab has appeared. This will show other people that your connections follow as well as their list updates, retweets and favorites.

Search has improved as the new update will now give suggestions for alternative spellings and other related terms but one of the most useful additions is autocomplete. Now when you look for someone under the Connect tab, autocomplete will spring into action, which will be great for many of us who can’t always remember precise Twitter names. Apps for both iOS and Android platforms will now offer push notifications.

Cnet also points out that users of the iOS app will find differences to the search box in Discover meaning that now recent queries will be added. When searching in Connect iOS users will also see a direct link to user’s profiles. You can find out more about the app changes at the Twitter blog.

The updated iOS Twitter app is available at the App Store here. It’s a free app compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad running iOS 4.0 or later. If you want the latest Twitter app for Android head to Google Play here. This is also a free app and is suitable for devices running Android 2.1 or later. We’d like to know what you think about the latest new features for the iOS or Android Twitter app. Are you impressed with the Twitter app update?
