Droid Razr Maxx price slash of $100 on Verizon

The Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx was a big hit when it arrived on Verizon in January, especially with heavy smartphone users. Although the Droid RAZR had already been successful the Droid RAZR Maxx stepped up in battery power, which had been an area of concern, particularly for 4G LTE users. Today we have news that Verizon is now offering a deal slashing an impressive $100 from the price of the Droid RAZR Maxx.

The specs and features of the Droid RAZR Maxx are virtually identical to the Droid RAZR but increases the battery capacity to a whopping 3300mAh, adding 2mm to the bulk of the handst. Many consumers had issues with other 4G LTE phones because of the faster battery drainage and so it made real sense for Motorola to come up with an alternative. When the RAZR Maxx was released it was priced at $299.99 on the usual two-year contract but as of today Verizon has slashed its online price to $199.99 on contract. This is a pretty impressive deal and may convince some people waiting for upcoming phones such as the Galaxy S3 to opt for the Droid RAZR Maxx instead.

News of this deal came to us from The Verge and the Verizon Wireless page clearly shows the new price offer although we’re informed that this price hasn’t yet made it’s way to some third-party outlets. Weirdly enough though, the Droid RAZR (predecessor) is still on sale at Verizon at the same price of $199.99 (even though Motorola now sells it for $99.99 on contract). Of course it’s possible that Verizon may also drop the price of the Droid RAZR now as well.

In case you want a reminder of the Droid RAZR Maxx specs we can tell you it has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (expandable to 32GB via micro SD), 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video capture and also a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. At present it’s still running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread but another plus point it that the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is due imminently, and of course the RAZR Maxx has 4G LTE connectivity.

Of course a price drop like this also makes us wonder what new release might be just around the corner. Will you be checking out this special price deal from Verizon? Am trying to make this decision right now. Moving from a Droid 2 global which has been replaced a ton with issues but when it works I love it!
