Android ICS ported to Samsung Wave

I’m fairly sure that most in the mobile space are aware that the Samsung Wave smartphone runs Sammy’s Bada operating system; however it now appears that those Samsung Wave owners that don’t particularly like the Bada OS can now port the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS to the handset.

According to an article over on Phone Arena, the guys over at XDA-Developers have now managed to get Android 4.0 running on the Samsung Wave S8500 handset.

So does the Android Ice Cream Sandwich port work on the Samsung Wave? Well in a fashion, and not perfect, but the camera apparently works, along with both WiFi and Bluetooth; however when it comes to making calls and texting, it appears those two are still a work in progress, and apparently the interface in the live action shot is upside down, which could prove to be an inconvenience.

Of course if you wish to have a go at slapping Android Ice Cream Sandwich onto your old Samsung Wave you can do so at your own risk naturally by heading over to the XDA-Developers forum where you can grab all the necessary to install ICS on the handset if you wish.

However, we have a video tutorial on how to install Android 4.0.4 on the Samsung Wave for your viewing consideration below courtesy of YouTube user Techgurudk, although the footage has no sound.
