MTS MTag 401 Android budget Phone Review

If you happen to be over in India and have been considering picking up the MTS MTag 401 Android smartphone, but can’t quite make up your mind whether the handset is the one for you, perhaps a review of the budget handset might sway your decision one way or the other.

Thus the guys over at Hindustan Times have got hold of the MTS MTag 401, and done a review of the handset, so we thought we’d pass along their views on the smartphone to our readership, and of course you can always hit up their website for the full review.

So let’s kick off with what the CDMA MTS MTag 401 offers, there is a 4-inch 800 x 480 TFT LCD touch screen along with a 3 megapixel rear facing camera, 256MB RAM, 145MB internal memory, microSD expansion up to 32GB, an 800MHz Snapdragon MSM7627 processor, built in Facebook, Saavn, and Twitter apps, along with some MTS bloatware, and runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

The MTS MTag 401 also sports a 1700mAh battery, and comes supplied with a 2BG microSD card, and commands a price tag of Rs. 8999.

When it comes to build quality the guys say the smartphone feel top notch, and sturdy, however when it comes to performance the Android handset fails to impress as it is frustratingly sluggish, and also the touch response on the device is quite bad, and whilst your basic apps run okay, when it comes to gaming it is a no-no due to the lag basically making games unplayable.

They also come up with a few pros and cons, with the pros being the MTS MTag 401 has a good design and battery life, along with a large display and unlimited calls and data for the first 3 months, but the cons are the device is sluggish, has a poor camera and runs Android 2.3.

So there you go, a quick review of the MTC MTag 401, will any of our readers be purchasing this budget handset in the future?
