Motorola Xoom Honeycomb Tablet Won’t Play Nice on Verizon LTE

You are probably aware that Motorola will unveil their new Android Honeycomb tablet at CES 2011, and apparently the word is the device will be known as the Motorola Droid Xoom, and considering the device is destined for Verizon you’d expect it to be able to play on Verizon’s new 4G LTE network.

However, according to an article over on Intomobile by Marin Perez, the guys over at Droid-life have heard that Droid Xoom will definitely be the name of the Android Honeycomb tablet but it won’t play nice on the Big Red 4G LTE network out of the box.

Apparently the word that the Motorola tablet won’t initially be able to surf the LTE waves comes from an unnamed source, so for now should be taken with a grain of salt, but Droid-life have been spot on with Verizon bound products before, and they say they are hoping the tablet will feature a USB slot for a 4G LTE modem.

So there you have it, the device will be called the Motorola Droid Xoom but no 4G LTE at outset, which seems a tad strange to me as surely Motorola have known Verizon is rolling out LTE so one would have thought Motorola would have gained the upper hand by delivering the tablet complete with 4G LTE connectivity.
