Has Palm Pre and New iPhone delayed Android 1.5 Cupcake?

Apparently T-Mobile has delayed Android 1.5 Cupcake update to T-Mobile G1 owners over in the United States, and they have apologised for doing so according to a post on ubergizmo.

The word from T-Mobile is that the roll out of Android 1.5 Cupcake has been reset by approximately one week and thus expects all G1 owners to have the update by early June.

Although T-Mobile hasn’t stated why the update has been delayed other than finalizing the built to ensure optimal functionality. So why is it T-Mobile UK has managed to deliver Android 1.5 Cupcake on time?

Could it possibly be that the Palm Pre and new iPhone have delayed the delivery of Android 1.5 Cupcake? Perhaps T-Mobile wish to roll it out roughly the same time as the Palm Pre and new iPhone hit the market.

That sounds like a bit of a stretch, but I guess anything is possible.

It probably has more to do with logistical issues (i.e. having customer support prepared, in the event that users experience problems, etc.).
