LG G6 battery will feature Heat Pipe technology

As the 2017 smartphones roll out, you can expect to hear a lot of shots taken at Samsung’s battery packs. While indirect, LG wants folks to know the LG G6 battery will be extremely safe thanks to a new tech involving heat pipes.

While we ponder how manufactures will deal with batteries in flexible smartphones, LG has been working on a way to make their juice boxes safer. They aren’t going to adopt a new type of tech per say but will bring something over from the PC world. The company will introduce “heat pipe” tech to the LG G6 release which is said to “significantly” improve the safety of their new flagship.

The heat pipe in the LG G6 will allow the battery to keep its cool even at temperatures up to a whopping 150 degrees. The pipe will be made of copper and act as a vent of sorts to disseminate heat when the temperatures rise. While that’s dandy, they are taking things even further apparently…

The battery also undergoes diverse tests such as piercing it with a sharp nail or dropping a heavy object on it from a high place.

While most folks won’t use their handsets to drive nails, it’s nice to know it won’t pop if a gunslinger with a nail gun comes your way. The said, the extreme drop test would be important as we all know that a hard fall can wreak havoc on your handset and the battery inside.

The LG G6 is shaping up to be an interesting smartphone to say the least. It’s going to be waterproof (or resistant) and may have a larger panel with a smaller screen-to-body ratio. We know the innards will be top of the line as well, as we would expect from any flagship. We’ll find out what the LG G6 has in store for us next month when it makes its debut at MWC.
