Company Predicts 1 Billion Fewer Phones Sold Due to Economic Downturn

A new report from Research Company, Informa Telecoms and Media indicated that there will be one billion fewer mobile phones sold over the next 5 years due to the financial downturn reports mobileburn.

Informa Telecoms and Media adjusted their forecast downwards by 14% from last year due to the slowdown in global economy.

Informa says mobile handset sales should begin to improve next year, but until then mobile phone owners will probably retain their handset for 6 to 9 months longer than before the economic crisis. Although Informa expect high end device sales to grow faster than affordable feature phones in 2010.
