New Nokia 6788 low-price 3G phone for China

Nokia has now unveiled their first mobile phone developed with China’s home-grown 3rd generation mobile tech, and have stated it will aim to “democratise” the smartphone market by selling lower priced mobile handsets in higher volumes reports an article on the WSJ.

The president of Nokia China, Colin Giles has said Nokia is in negotiations with China Mobile concerning how to price the future line-up.

Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo ha said the Nokia 6788 will ship by the years end but has yet to be priced, and that Nokia has made a “strategic decision to invest” in China’s TD-SCDMA technology.
