The long awaited Android offering from Sony Ericsson the X10 is almost among us although not quite as we would have expected.

Sony Ericsson has explained their decision in relation to the launch of the X10 with Android 1.6 instead of what we were expecting a newer version of 2.1.

Basically they are not as focused on their version of the OS as much as it is the total UI package offered by Android and Sony Ericsson’s proprietary OS layer otherwise known as the Sony Ericsson User Experience Platform.

Despite the amazing look and some rather slick UI, Sony Ericsson has now realized that us consumers are interested in the latest features of the Android OS and thankfully they have confirmed that they will offer an update to the X10 and it’s Sony Ericsson User Experience Platform at a point after its launch.
