Samsung and Verizon Working on iPhone Competitor with Samsung Omnia 3?

During MIX 2010, a prototype Samsung Omnia 3 smartphone was demonstrated running Windows Phone 7 Series operating system, which according to an article over on infosyncworld, could be a Verizon and Samsung iPhone competitor.

Although any word on this Samsung Omnia 3 smartphone is extremely scant as it isn’t know where, when or even if the Samsung Omnia 3 will officially appear, it was only shown during MIX 2010 which then leads to these rumours.

Although if the Samsung Omnia 3 is a Windows Phone 7 Series handset then it must comply with Microsoft’s WP7S specs which includes a WVGA capacitive touch screen, 5 megapixel camera with flash and dedicated camera button, 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM and 8GB Flash memory.

The article goes on to say that the Samsung Omnia 3 powered by Windows Phone 7 Series would likely provide the latest and greatest cell phone tech and latest and greatest mobile software tech. But really do they think that an Omnia 3 with WP7 could challenge the iPhone, do you think that?
