iPhone 4 Nothing Special, Just Another Phone

During the Apple press conference today, Steve Jobs compared the iPhone 4 reception issue with a few other smartphones, namely the BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris and the Samsung Omnia II, with all three other smartphones the bars dropped away when holding them on the left side.

So basically Steve Jobs was saying that the issue with the iPhone 4 wasn’t a new issue as shown with the other three smartphones, which is probably true, but people expect more from a device that sports the iPhone name.

The iPhone has been the top smartphone ever since it’s first release, and each new iPhone has improved on the previous version, but when it comes to the iPhone 4, only then does this reception issue get highlighted enough for something to be done.

So basically when you hold up the iPhone 4 and say look it does the same as the BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris and Samsung Omnia II, aren’t you actually saying, look the iPhone 4 is the same and no better when it comes to reception.

Which means the iPhone 4 is basically just another smartphone prone to the same problems as other smartphones. The problem is the iPhone 4 was built up to be something beyond the normal smartphone and people expected it not to have the same issues as lesser devices.

Having said that, it does look like Apple is doing their best to make their customers happy, but perhaps this whole affair puts the iPhone into a new light of not being that superior to any other.

Eh not really. Steve Jobs compared the iphone with those phones for reception problems. The iphone has a way better web browser, user interface, and basically better than blackberry besides email and thier enterprise server. Same goes for the other phones, iphone is a better product then those other phones at certain things, not everything. I wouldnt say a phone is better then another, its just does things differently. If one phone did everything the same as every other then whats the point?
